The Founders

Yoonie Park

Yoonie Park is the co-founder of 8 Birds Tours and Events, bringing a deep passion for history, culture, and storytelling to every experience. With over five years of experience as a museum curator, she has a keen eye for detail and a dedication to authenticity. Her expertise in art, history, and cultural preservation shapes the immersive, thoughtfully designed tours that 8 Birds Tours and Events is known for. Through her work, Yoonie ensures that every journey is not just a tour, but a meaningful connection to Korea’s rich heritage. She is a wife and business partner of Daniel.

Daniel Lee Gray

Daniel is a food-loving American who came to Korea to learn about his roots. Dan is a Korean adoptee that left Korea when he was five and one of the reasons he returned was in hopes of finding his mother and father, which he was able to do. Daniel’s first job in Korea was as an English teacher and did the blog as a hobby in his free time. The site has evolved from a rambling tangle of thoughts into a food blog. It is mainly about food and culture in Korea but also about Daniel’s journey in Korea.

Daniel has taken the success of his blog to work in video production, tourism and events (he was a partner at O’ngo Food Communications for 4 years) and the owner of two craft beer restaurants (Brew 3.14π and Brew 3.15π). He regularly appears on KBS World’s Korean Food Story . He can be contacted for private tours, events and consulting.

Daniel specializes in Korean food and culture. He has worked on over 50 video productions in Korea as either a host, line producer and more. He specializes in research and written reports for the OECD, Yum Foods, and Diagio. He has done events, learning expeditions, brand launches and tours for Mars Chocolate, Yahoo!, Google, YPO, Oracle and more.
